Anal Sex: Life is too short not to try it!

Anal sex is a bit of a taboo subject despite the fact that it’s a popular sexual activity. If you are interested in exploring this type of sex, understanding the risks, rewards, and proper strategy is very important. Anal sex is not only penetration with a penis, but there are other options. Anal sex can be performed with fingers, the tongue and sex toys (vibrators, dildos, butt plus, anal beads etc).

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), anal sex is primarily growing in popularity with couples under age 45. In fact, in a national survey, 36% of women reported that they’ve had anal sex with an opposite-sex partner.

Like any sexual activity, anal sex isn’t inherently unsafe. It just requires more planning, prep, and communication than some other forms of sexual activity.

Before exploring anal sex, keep these two things in mind.

IT'S FINE TO BE NERVOUS!

DO NOT, DO NOT, TRY IT, IF YOU DON'T WANT TO!!

:::::::::::::::::::::::: Time to take notes::::::::::::::::::

Ladies, time to cover a few things you'll need to know before diving in. I HIGHLY suggest having a conversation with your partner to make sure you are both on the same page. After you've both agreed to explore, consider taking baby steps before the big moment. It is recommended to try some anal play first, in order to figure out if you enjoy anal stimulation. Anal play can be done using fingers and tongue. Then maybe you can upgrade to a small toy (anal beads, mini butt plugs, mini dildos etc).

Preparation

  • CONSENT: Do not partake in any anal play or penetration if you are not comfortable. If you said no, then enforce that no. This must be something YOU want to do.
  • Lube: Thicker lube is highly recommended over water based. Keep in mind, this is an area that does not get naturally moist like the vagina. Therefore, a thicker lube helps keep the area moist and doesn't dry up as quickly as a water based lube.
  • Condom: prevents any bacterial infection.
  • COMMUNICATION: Both parties must establish ground rules before the actual activity. Consider discussing "safe" words. Ladies, do not use a crazy fancy word that you will most likely forget in the moment.
    • The most commonly used words are red, yellow and green.
    • Red: STOP, IT HURTS LIKE HELL, GET OUT, NO MORE!!
    • Yellow: slow down, easy, I’m approaching the “it hurts like hell zone.”
    • Green: feels good, right there, don't stop, I like it (insert light moans here).
  • Anal Douche: This is important to help minimize the "mess" afterwards. Yes, there will be some fecal residue when the penis or toy is removed. NO, IT WILL NOT SQUIRT OUT!!
    • An anal douche differs for each person. You might have heard of some people doing a full enema. To be honest everyone must find what works for them. There isn't one general way to perform this task.
    • If it is your first time, I recommend purchasing the anal douche bulb. It is simple, small and will not cause any discomfort. (Yes, it's on Amazon. Here's the link: Enema bulb)
    • Do NOT use saline water! Regular warm water is fine.
    • Perform this task an hour or two prior to engagement.
    • Now, if anal sex becomes a regular part of your sexual experience, then I suggest investing in the anal douche shower head.

Time to dive in

You've done lots of anal play and realize you really enjoy anal stimulation. Now you're ready for the big moment.

(inhale) then (exhale)

RELAX YOUR MUSCLES

The pressure will be far worse if you create tension in your muscles. Reality is, this is going to hurt a bit. Well, the first few minutes of entry will hurt. Keep in mind, getting the head in hurts the most because the head of the penis is the widest part.

Do not forget your color codes. Use the color codes to guide your partner when he/she is entering. Upon entry, ENJOY the stimulation. During the act, there may be some pressure that gives the "I need to go number 2" feeling. Don't freak out, this is normal. There might also be some butt queefs. NO, you're not farting!

If you find that you really really enjoy anal sex, then you can increase stimulation by incorporating a toy. Placing a small vibrator on the clitoris will give double the pleasure and lead to an intense orgasm. Ladies, yes, you can orgasm from anal sex. Anal orgasms can happen through indirect stimulation of the erogenous zones inside the vagina. The G-spot and A-spot, are key places for pleasurable stimulation through the shared wall between the vagina and rectum.

Also, consider changing positions to explore which is more comfortable. Some of the positions include, but please do not limit yourself to; doggy style, missionary and laying flat on the stomach.

Aftermath

Guide your partner when he/she begins to pull out. It is very important to be extremely gentle. Do not be alarmed if there is a little blood. This is normal. Minor bleeding is caused by small anal tears, but don't worry the tear is so tiny you wouldn't feel it. Of course, if there is major bleeding, lasting for a long period of time you should seek medical attention. Take the time to clean up. A helpful tip is to keep baby wipes in arms reach. Even with preparation, there might be a little fecal residue.

Tip: If you did not get any pleasure from the experience, do not force yourself to do it again!
