Good Sexual Health

"The body wants sex. The heart wants love. The mind wants both. The soul needs peace."

It is the month of "love" as many celebrate valentine's day, which very often leads to some form of sexual activity. It is very important during this time to bring attention to our sexual health.

Recently, the Kinsey Institute shared an article discussing the five action steps to good sexual health, which will be the basis of this week’s blog. The link to the direct article will be provided. We encourage you to take the time to read further.

Value who you are

Yes, it starts with you! When we feel good about ourselves, we make better decisions. These decisions often have positive benefits in many areas of our life.

Protect your body

This should be self explanatory. Enjoy your sexual experience, but protect yourself. Do not forget to use condoms and/or dental dams (Dental dams are latex or polyurethane sheets used between the mouth and vagina or anus during oral sex).

Treat your partner how you want to be treated

There must be a mutual level of respect between partners. Be confident in setting expectations and standards for your relationship, whether it is short-term or long-term. Do not sell yourself short!

Grow positive relationships

The key to good sexual health and well-being is to nurture a positive relationship. Become mindful of the energy you are inviting into your space.

Sexual health check up

Do not downplay your health; make sexual health a part of your health care visits. Ladies, it is very important to make the PAP test a part of your annual medical visits.
